The Problem

This article will provide a description of writing development from emerging levels to competency, and of the
interaction of the different components involved in the process of writing.

Also included are references to current research on the use of software to improve writing. Several sections identify unique aspects of Write Brain that are linked to specific recommendations in the literature.

These include teaching and using specific strategies, attention to motivational aspects, tools available for students and teachers, assessment options, and reporting. The initial general overview provides the framework for the other sections.
