Even if you hate cell phones you have to admit to yourself that it has totally changed our lives and indeed saved many. You can now get a Buddy Phone which has a GSM monitoring system so you know exactly where your kids are. And think about all the lonely old dears who can now chat to loved ones in remote places.
Walk through any Mall in Canada and you will see a dozen or so stalls selling new cell phones, and there seems to be one attached to the side of the head of most teenagers. But consider this: the U.K has a 97% market saturation and the U.S close behind at around 94%.
Canada is way behind at around 54% , maybe this is due to the cost barriers but it could be that we just dont seem to care for them, either way the Cell phone is here to stay and if they make you mad, consider the benefits !
There are so many new phones arriving here in Canada that I am spoilt for choice. Take a look at the page on the right, for the New FIT. If that is not enough Sony Erricson has brought out a new camera phone with 5 meg pixel camera. I will soon post a review and some pictures.
Some time ago I saw a program on television about a lady who entered every single competition that she could in her spare time whilst watching her favorite soap. By the end of the year she had won a car, a holiday and lots of other things.
When asked about her secret she said that it was all a numbers game and that some competitions only ever had a handful of people enter, and there were even some that none entered so she won !
By her side was a phrase book that she used and a simple notebook of all the competitions she had entered. So this made me think about entering some, and for the first few months I entered about a dozen a month but no luck. But this morning I got a great surprise. I am off to Florida for two weeks all expenses paid due to a survey I filled in with a phrase saying “I love Florida because its always like spring ” Pretty dumb but I got my holiday. Thanks for reading, I just had to tell someone.
There is a new version of WordPress for iPhone (and iPod touch) application that is now live and available for download in the iTunes App store. Beware of fake iphones from China, I have seen many of these being advertised on the web especially on classified sites and ebay !
This is a great version and has a lot of fixes/enhancements that many people like me have been eagerly awaiting . I have been playing around with version 1.2 for a little bit and here are some of my first impressions.
The New Features with Some Comments
- Landscape mode with an extra wide keyboard
- I think that this is probably the most desired feature for this application simply because it is physically painful to type a full length blog post in the iPhone portrait keyboard. Its great that the portrait keyboard restriction is now a thing of the past!
- Link creation help is also a super idea
At first I wasn’t sure where this feature was hiding at, but I soon found the trick to invoking this feature. So what you need to do is anytime you are writing, you can type something that resembles a link (for example “www.” or “http”) to invoke a little prompt that asks you if you want to create a link.
If you say yes will it brings up another prompt asking you to fill in the URL. I think this is slick interface although some people might find it a bit annoying. It would have been nice to merge these two dialogs into one dialog and also have the option to turn this feature off.
